                         CCR QUESTION 1

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

At first, we’re gonna have a little twist to our writing and just to make it more different than other movies so we came up with this.

Usually heroes are seen as men or how they like to call it the "strong people, the ones who save the day: how about let’sss switch it up. A girl saves the day and she’s not serious this time like black widow she’s fun and she’s a little bit clumsy to bring out the unexpected.

This girl named Vienna is different,  because of how people see certain characters. This is because when people make these characters they are made really cringe or they try to make them seem more serious so that’s why we wanted to switch it up because we wanted it to be different to have a different storyline because genders and stereotypes really do take a big toll on movies.

I’m so proud. Me, Bella, I wrote the strip. I wrote that script and I really tried to focus not to make it less cringe because I wanted to sound natural so, we ended up on a little bit less of a cringe vibe. We wanted it to sound like a fun, and make an interesting person and not just a little serious person. I wanted it to be so much more. We wanted to give this character, sarcasm and make them someone that the audience could have a connection to so we really had to think about like kind of a marble hero and we got here.

Editing

The time line is done. We just need to add the sounds and fix a couple things. The lighting CHECKKKKKK. Everything is going well. Shout out to guys for his hard work. This guy edited most of it on his way to Tampa on the bus. This is because we are going to the STN crazy 8 competition.

    One thing is that we should've thought about the background sounds when filming. The restaurant we filmed at ( Birra Bar) was really loud and wad playing the loudest music ever so that IS a problem in editing. 

    So, I guess we will have to do a voice over so people can hear our voices. The only problem with this is that our voices will sound un natural to our surroundings or just too loud. Ive done voice overs to my videos before at it's noticeable. Maybe if Gustavo edits the voice overs it will sound normal. Like people say, we cant fix it in post!

FILMING PROGRESS

                       POST PRODUCTION

    So, we are almost done filming we just need to film a tiny bit.

    The beginning took a while because Gabe, a friend of Gus came to play the antagonist role and let's just say he's not so good at acting... On the other hand, the cinematography was absolutely amazing, so props to our cinematographer Gus! 🐐

The background was just perfect because it made it look like a bar and the colors in the back really brought up the set. 

    There was one scene that we had to reshoot because Gabe had to chase me and he was running way too fast. Here is the video:

    Now, Gabe's friend (Rigo) also helped he basically stood there as a body guard as we shot the scenes between both characters. Most things are shot inside the restaurant so props to him for standing there for so long. Rigo took brakes and sat down while Gabe rehearsed our lines because Rigo had to stand for so long...

    Finally, we finished filming what we had to get done. To celebrate me Gus and Kiarmary got milkshakes. We all had a great time filming this and made lots of jokes!

Group meeting #2

    We had a group meeting where we shared thoughts and gave each other advice for our CCR and opening project 

    Addison wants to do horror, she wants the first seconds to be calm. She's gonna make them crash and after that she's going to show the girl dead on the face. Gus said to put the wheels crashing and go to black, for there it just shows them dead. Anyway, she shows the guy surviving by changing the day. The mise-en-scene is going to show the first seconds clean and after the crash the colors will be darker. The last parts will be him seeing him seeing his gf ghost from the crash.

                                                                 

    Ishan is getting his inspiration from the hangover. His idea is to start with a guy coming back from work and puts down his backpack and hears something, so he p grabs an umbrella because he thinks someone its in the house. At the end it turns out it's his friend and his friend wants to plan a trip. The people in my group gave Ishan an idea to add some lights around his company logo because it's basic and Ishan wanted more ideas for his logo. The issue is that Ishan wants to follow the car with the camera by being in the back of another car.

Oliver has already filmed, he made it about a drug dealing turns into a kidnapping. From what he said there isn't any issue. The reason why the kid got kidnapped is because the guy he bought drugs from wants revenge since the buyer build the dealers friend.

                                                  

    I got into a group with Isabella again and she still wants to do the friends to lovers, she had everything set for it.  The idea is still good, but what she is wanting to show on the opening is really long. I told her that, but she still wants to do that, so I'll just with her luck.

    

    

                        Post Production

    Today, I scouted for music and landed on 2 songs to put. Since the theme was action and was about a spy, I had to look for music that sounded a bit cartoonish. 

    So for the first interaction we landed on this song wight here 

     This part is for the beginning and we will have that playing while they exchange the suitcases and stuff. After that, there is the chasing scene. The sound was hard to find because I also don't want to make it too dramatic because then it won't really fit the tone of the song. 

    

    The only struggles im facing with this is that im trying to download the sound files on my Mac and it wouldn't let me or it was being buggy. So, I just asked my friend named Robbie who is funny by the way. He just helped me download and add the audios to my blog post and to my project.

   Above is the sound for the chasing scene, the idea is for the chasing scene to be built up. From there the sound will fade away once the protagonist gets in the car

Note in briefcase

At first, I was going to write the not with my own hand writing. Then, I thought to myself about character development. I needed a font that suited Vienna, so I searched up hand written fonts

When I saw this I thought that it was perfect because it fit her vibe since she was a girl obviously stereotypically the females have a nice hand righting, but there was two problems. Number one, I can't write in this font neatly. Number two, if I were to write it well it wouldn't be easy for the audience to read it.

I found some eligible ones, I landed on the circled one because it looks like a teachers handwriting. That way it also looks a bit professional and fun.

Here I am looking at the photos of the text while watching the winter solider. Also, finding out what I wanted to write. 

Here is the sketch, I decided to add the frowning face last minute so it shows some personality.

Here it is written over the pencil. It look a while to  Write over it because I didn't want to mess up and get another paper.

Lastly, I decided to have the "not really" to show the characters irony.

    Before we came up with the production company animation, we first came up with the name. We wanted the name to include everyone's half. So we landed on RGB productions, at first we thought of making it like the Disney+ animations. We changed our mind because we wanted it to fit with the move, so here is the progress.

Here we but in just the letters RGB and made them pop out so they look 3D.

Then, we made the text bigger and put in a three point lighting.

    From there, I had an idea to kinda make it like a pixelated Tv kinda thing, from there it transforms into the company name and this is what we got!

Outfit plan

    There was a problem this week so we aren't able to film. In that case, we are planning everything by detail while. So, im going to fully pick Vienna's outfit.

    First, I really want to get her a brown jacket. My mom and my sister have many jackets, so I went to go check their closets. From my mom's closet I haven't found any brown jackets it was mostly black, white, and a blue jean jacket. Then, I went to my sisters closet and found a perfect one.

    

    This is kinda what the jacket looks like just that it's a little darker.

    

    From here I want to find a nice shirt, but nothing that stands out too much. Im thinking maybe a color white or black, something casual that also looks good. But, after looking for some inspiration on Pinterest I think it's better to use just a plain white shirt.

    This is what the top would look like withe the jacket, with that it will be blue jeans and black boots. Something is missing here which is what most agents wear, glasses. On top of that Im going to make an ear piece for her.

Planning post

                             Our plans

    So, me and my partners have really busy schedules, because of that we had to reschedule our filming day to Friday after school. From there we will film everything on one day since we have everything prepared.

    Out of the three of us im going to be acting in the opening, we also got other people out of class to help with acting in small rolls. The person playing the antagonist (Bryan) is really skilled at short film so we got him to play that roll. 

    Kiarmary, one of the people in my group is going to provide the costumes and also help with the props.

                                                

    Gus, another of the group members is doing most of the editing since that is his biggest strength. We will be diving up the rest of the editing so it can be fair. Besides that we will be taking turns filming different parts. For example, when im not in certain shots I will be recording establishing shots or maybe close up of objects and the antagonist.

                     Mise-en-scene part 2

                                                        Set design

    Few days before we had to plan we already had our spots, we have 2 different locations. The way we have it planned is to have the first location to be the exchange then the second location to be the chasing scene.

    For the first one we have is in Birra bar  where the characters exchange a briefcases. It's supposed to be on the low, so they will do it in a chill restaurant. We called the people who work there to be able to record there. 

    We chose to film in that little corner because it looks fancy and the lights complete the vibe we are looking for.

    After that location we chose to film outside close from Birra bar in town center. We want to take some shots at the clock tower and near other stores to make it look like a long chase.

    From there an establishing shot would also look great with the anatomist chasing the main character who just had tricked him.

Character development

    Before doing the character development we planned how we want the opening to be like and the genre of the movie. We wanted to be comedy and action at the same time, so we decided to make the character the comedy piece of the movie. Then we had to think of the arc of the character and how we vision the change of the character.

                                            

    As you see in the picture we planned the 1st, 2nd and 3rd act. The 2nd is the one that makes the change. So, we want to make the character in the beginning to be bad at their job and take it unserious. That's the way it starts in the beginning.

In the 2nd act she messes up by trying to be funny and regrets trying to joke around because she genuinely thinks she isnt good so she doesn't want ti try anymore Lastly, the 3rd act she realizes she can still be herself she just has to think positively about the way she works.

Sound planning

                         Audio for opening

    For audios im using a website called epidemic sound, all sounds can be used without being copy righted. So we won't be needing to search for anything on Youtube and having to doublecheck if its copy right or not.

    For the background sounds we will be needing people talking and cars since in the beginning they are inside a bar/ restaurant. Then, there's a chase outside so to make the scene feel stressing we will need some car noises.

    Here are some ideas for the non-diabetic sound in the beginning when Agent Vienna (main character) is walking to the place she meets up with the antagonist. The being of the movie is really important so I want to bring some light when it starts. 

The inspiration for this music came from the song "Mr Blue sky". Here's the link to the sound we are using-

    Then we have the scene where the 2 characters talk to each other at the bar so I want some people talking in the background, Diagetic jazz noise coming from the restaurant.

    Moving on we have the chase scene so I definitely want non-diagetic and diabetic sounds. I want the car nosies, people walking by, lastly the non-diegetic chase music. Here they are

Mise-en-scene

                         Costume and props

The props we want to use include are an ear piece, 2 suitcases, and can of worms.

     The 2 most important props are the briefcases. The one the main character Vienna is holding at first is blue, and the antagonist is carrying a black briefcase . The idea for this is that the briefcases represent their characters, with Vienna being unserious at her job while the antagonist is the opposite. When they exchange the briefcases and Vienna leaves it shows how she is ready for business and leaving the fun behind now that she is holding the black briefcase.

                                  

    The ear piece is just to show that Vienna is in fact a spy/ agent. The can of worms are going to be put inside the blue brief case, so when the antagonists opens the case it jumps straight at him and he realizes its a trick The can of worms also adds to the fact that Vienna is not taking it seriously.

                                              

Costumes

The costuming is pretty simple, while the antagonist and the henchmen wear black suits the main character wears normal clothes with a brown jacket. here's where we got inspiration.

                                       

 The idea is to have the characters to fully contrast each other. From there it develops the whole idea of a character who isn't great at her job going vs a very serious guy which adds balance between the comedy and action.

Opening film media theory

    The theory is that want to include in my film opening is gender performative theory. This theory means that the gender roles aren't natural and can build the idea of it. 

   How we are coming up with the idea is by making a girl agent/spy who is unserious but, gets the work done. Usually these characters connect to boy characters like, star lord from guardians of the galaxy, Spiderman, and Deadpool. This time we make it a girl, this changes the way people think about the character and makes it more interesting.

Research about gender performative theory

    The idea of this theory is to show that being born a female or male doesn't determine behavior and how different settings influence how the individuals express their own gender When this is done it can open up a possibility for change in the stereotypical gender roles.

This can be shown with repetitions in the character. For example, the character from our film opening pulls funny tricks on the enemies and it can be shown repeatedly to reinforce it. This can also be seen with Captain Marvel who is one of the most powerful superheroes in marvel and she is a female, usually heroes are man and it's been shown that way for years. It changed when Captain Marvel came in and she was shown as the most powerful.  In addition, the main audience in marvel is men so the character encourages girls to watch marvel and can change their perspectives by telling them that girls can also fight and change the world.

    After planing what we wanted to do for the opening we made the script from there we finished it and it took us a whole class to develop and write the script. Here is what we did.

                            Meeting reflections

    One of my companions Isabella wanted to do enemies to lovers. The characters families love each other, but they hate each other. The girl has to get married with this one guy for money, but she doesn't want to. The girl ends up thinking what if she marries the family friend instead even though she hates him. They make an agreement to make an agreement and then get divorced. What's cool is that she made a short animation of what she visioned. Only problem she had is that she needs grown ups to act for the families.

    Felipe wants to do a car scene, his idea is to make an acronym park drug dealing. The dealers meets jay who is the best racer and they decide to race each other, the dealer drifts his car and then he says of shift and then the title cuts to "shift happens." The inspiration he got is from a fast and serious skit. They have the cars and location to film, the only obstacle is filming inside the cars without it getting shaky.

    Hayden wants to do an opening film of a guy getting ready really roughly and then it gets to a title. After the title hes in a teacher conference, but he isn't paying attention hes more focused on picking at his nails with muffled noise of the teacher talking. her idea is for the opening to be phycological horror and represent the main character as someone who is isolated and show a slow burn of stages he goes through before becoming a serial killer. The idea is really good, the inspiration she got is from Alice sweet Alice.

 

    Paula also wants to do phycological horror. The idea is to have the main character girl has a decease and she sees things. There's a moment she has where the tv she's watching at some point speaks to her. The element is that the audience  doesn't know what is or what is not real. The obstacle Paula is facing is that she doesn't know how to make the illusions work. The idea is less then 2 minutes so I suggested she had a scene with a therapist to reinforce she has a decease that makes her see things.

   

 Chase also wants to do horror, the idea is to show a guy wanting to kill a girl and then it cuts to the title. After that it shows the guy doing normal day tasks. I didn't really understand because he spoke about them switching bodies and that the girl did something wrong.

    For our project we had an idea of doing a heist and the main character is this girl with an under cover name (Vianna) she is an unserious agent and tricks the bad guy, Mr Doodooeye. The film is an action movie mixed with a bit of comedy.

We had an inspiration for a character like Spiderman, a guy who works alone and gets his stuff done but, likes to joke around.

          

On the other hand, the bad guy is very serious and surrounded by henchmen who work with him. He has dark vibes to him and is Vianna's nemesis. 

The idea is that the good and bad guy contrast each other by color and personalities making perfect balance in the movie and the perfect stereotypical enemies.

Learning how to develop characters

Today I watched a podcast which helped me learn how to develop a character, the reason for this is to give my characters in the film opening project a proper script to fully have them as their own person.

Type 1: Cling to a set of rules/principles. Rules = peace. Correct inappropriate behavior.

Selectively picks specific spots to manage anger flow

Positive growth: BREAK UR OWN RULES & GET HANDS DIRTY.

Type 9: Harden to tolerate complex. “There is no ladder up I js have to get used to this”

U give them a ladder and they cant see it bc theyre convinced theres no way up. Who

am I?

Repress anger

Positive growth: TAKE INITIATIVE AND CLIMB OUT OF PIT

Type 8: Have to shut off to emotion, vulnerability = death. Pursue power.
